----Trip Dates----
October 4th to October 11th
----Trip Description----
Our journey will encompass exploring the canyonlands in and around Dinosaur National Monument, Flaming Gorge and some of the Uinta Mountains. We'll start our trip near the town of Maybell to fuel up before making our way North. The first couple days on our route we'll head into Wyoming as we cruise some 40mi of dirt trail along the East rim of Flaming Gorge to camp and take in the views. From there we'll head South into Utah, and into the remote backroads and trails of the Uinta Mountains and through Crouse Canyon to the Southern side of Dinosaur National Monument. We'll proceed East via Yampa Bench and check out some Petroglyphs near the Green River. Throughout our journey the terrain in the region is filled with a variety of unique rock formations and prehistoric geological wonders.
Be prepared to pay the entrance fee (if you don't have an annual pass) to venture into DNM to hike the .57mi Fossil Discovery Trail, among others along our route, since the Quarry Wall of dino fossils, which I really wanted to see, will be closed for the Fall season. Overall our trip will feature fantastic views of the canyonlands within the national monument, Flaming Gorge and many other scenic views as we travel this prehistoric area!
