Baja Expedition Highlights: March 2026

Week One Field Notes:

The first week unfolded as a steady rhythm of rugged desert, coastal stretches, and the camaraderie of shared travel. Crossing into Baja set the tone—dusty roads, wide horizons, and the sea always somewhere nearby. Each day carried its own blend of challenge and reward: driving through rugged terrain, then the relief of reaching a quiet desert or shoreline where the sky came alive under the stars.

One town offered a glimpse of history and culture, its mission and narrow streets grounding the group in the peninsula’s past. Another stop revealed a remote bay, where solitude and community balanced perfectly—long walks along the water, evenings of campfire storytelling, and the kind of silence only found far from pavement.

Midweek brought a shift in scenery. Vast flats stretched to the horizon, and wildlife encounters reminded everyone of Baja’s raw abundance. The group leaned into logistics—fuel, supplies, and route planning—while still finding time for moments of wonder that broke up the miles.

The week closed in a place of contrast: palms, rivers, and shade after days of desert heat. It was a natural reset, a chance to recharge before pressing onward. Looking back, the first half of the expedition was defined not by destinations alone, but by the interplay of challenge and beauty, solitude and community, all woven into a rhythm of our own.

Week Two Field Notes

The second week carried a slower, more reflective rhythm as the route bent toward quieter coastlines and wide‑open desert. Mornings started with soft light over the water, and the group settled into an easy flow—drive, explore, unwind. A few remote beaches became home for a night or two, offering long swims, good food, and the kind of stillness that makes Baja feel endless.

Wildlife encounters added a spark to the days, and small towns along the way offered chances to restock, reconnect, and taste a bit of local life. The miles stayed manageable, giving everyone room to breathe and enjoy the landscape rather than race through it.

As the expedition wound north, the sense of accomplishment grew—vehicles dusty, spirits high, and the group moving as a tight, confident unit. The final stretch felt like a victory lap, a chance to savor the last sunrises, the last campfires, and the shared feeling that two weeks on the peninsula had left its mark and a memorable adventure for all!

April's Baja Expedition will begin next week and we'll continue to create new experiences and discover new places!
